We strive to engage our children, add spark and energy to their lessons and promote a strong sense of self-worth.
In line with most schools, we work from and develop the National Curriculum to meet our children’s needs. In doing this we place a high emphasis on basic skills and our children achieve well. We aim to produce well-rounded children who can play a positive part as tomorrow’s citizens. We actively promote the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance for others, such as those with different faiths and beliefs.
We also work tirelessly to create an enriched curriculum for our children, injecting varied and rich learning experiences.
English, Maths and Science are taught alongside the other subjects of Design Technology, History, Geography, Art, Computing ,Music, PE and our chosen language of French is taught throughout Key Stage 2. The curriculum also encompasses Religious Education and Personal, Social Health and Citizenship Education focusing on the development of the children’s moral and spiritual understanding.
During their time at our school children will work as a member of a class, a group or individually. The curriculum is taught in subject lessons and also through cross curricular topics. This teaching is enhanced by visits out to various places related to the topic or by having visitors into school who provide a memorable and valued learning experience.
Our curriculum maps are planned to ensure continuity and progression, developing the children’s knowledge and skills in the context of a theme. The children work from first-hand experience and other relevant sources which capture and maintain their interest.
