End of Year Expectation Leaflets
These leaflets provide information for parents and carers on the end of year expectations for children in our school. The staff have identified these expectations as being the minimum requirements your child must meet in order to ensure continued progress throughout the following year.
All the objectives will be worked on throughout the year and will be the focus of direct teaching. Any extra support you can provide in helping your children to achieve these is greatly valued.
If you have any queries regarding any content of these leaflets or want support.
Spelling the common exception words in the new curriculum – everything you need!
Most people read words more accurately than they spell them. The younger children are, the truer this is. Spelling’s time has finally come!
Many of the words listed for years 1 and 2 are used frequently in childrens’ writing, and therefore it is very important that children learn the correct spelling.
The word-lists for years 3 and 4 and years 5 and 6 are statutory. The lists are a mixture of words children frequently use in their writing and those which they often misspell. Some of the listed words may be thought of as quite challenging, but the words in each list will be taught within the four years of key stage 2 alongside other words that teachers consider appropriate.
Regular practise will no doubt help your child develop their spelling habit! Let’s get spelling!
