Newton offers football coaching to all ages, genders and abilities with after school coaching and school team matches. Although one of the smallest schools in the region we a school team and all are encouraged to take part. The School meets on a Tuesday for coaching in preparation of matches and competitions, and TM Soccer run an after school football club on Thursdays (please ask our Secretary for details of time and cost). The School has links with Graveley FC, a recently formed football club with FA Charter Standard status, providing opportunities for our pupils to join a team and play in the Hunts Mini Soccer League.
We have also recently added football (and ball skills) coaching within the school day for Year 3& 4 for an hour each week. The children thoroughly enjoy it and all show a willingness to take part and are improving their co-ordination skills. We hope they will all be playing for the School Teams in the future.
The School has been awarded a grant by the Football Foundation for the purchase of new kit and equipment as part of the process of the School seeking FA Charter Standard School status. The FA Charter Standard Schools programme is the FAs flagship education programme to recognise and reward schools using football to deliver key strategic objectives such as raising standards, out of school hours activities, young leadership development, school competitions, school-to-community links and development. |
