The Music curriculum provides a balanced programme of musical activities. During the early years there is an emphasis on rhythmic and melodic activities which consist mainly of singing and the use of percussion instruments. As the children progress through the school, they are given the opportunity to extend their musical experiences. This might be by taking part in musical dramas composing their own music, or by having instrumental lessons These lessons are detailed in the back of this booklet. All children listen to a variety of music from different periods and cultures Music is also integrated into topic work where appropriate.
